I believe with all my heart that God speaks in a variety of ways.
He often communicates to me through my circumstances. I might hear a perfectly timed song on the radio that comforts or convicts me.
Sometimes God will speak to me through my husband or a friend or even a stranger. He also speaks on occasion through my dreams. I especially treasure the times the sound of God’s still small voice speaks directly into my thoughts.
Even though I’ve heard God speak in a variety of ways, He speaks to me mostly through the Bible. I’ll go so far as to say that I don’t think He’s likely to speak in other ways unless I regularly read the Bible. In other words, because I read, study and memorize God’s Word, I’m more apt to hear His voice whenever and however He chooses to speak to me.
Last Sunday the guest speaker at our gatherings admonished my church to read the gospels every month. With four gospels, that means reading each one three times a year.
Imagine what you might hear God say.
