As I sat down to choose a memory verse to post today on Memorial Day, I couldn’t help but think of this one from Romans. In context, it applies to the great love God showed for us by sending Christ to die for us.
According to this verse, most people would not be willing to die—even for an upright person. Isn’t it true that the brave men and women in our military who gave the ultimate sacrifice are not like most people? They were willing to die to preserve the freedoms of all people—even those of us who aren’t especially good.

Today I acknowledge their sacrifice with sincere gratitude and honor them with this tribute. I also pray for their loved ones to be comforted on this day of remembrance.
