As I considered what to post for today’s memory verse, I remembered how many times over the past week I found myself whispering the first verse of Psalm 34, and how grateful I felt to have memorized it.
Hour by hour and day by day, circumstances lifted and then dropped me like so many rollercoaster rides.
Over and over, I heard myself repeating, “His praise will always be on my lips.” I continually willed myself to “extol the LORD at all times.”
My determined focus led me to worship with greater expression, which in my case inevitably means breaking into song. I sang out the words to Kalley Heiligenthal’s song, Ever Be even as my rollercoaster circumstances sent me plummeting to earth.
The crazy ride reminded me of the illogical enthusiasm I wrote about last March.
Keeping God’s praise on my lips helped me look up “at all times” last week. It will help me this week and next week, too. I pray that learning today’s memory verse will help you to always look up and see our God, who is worthy of praise at all times.
