Lyrics from a song that was popular more than 30 years ago have run through my head several times this week. Written by Twila Paris, the song, “The Warrior is a Child” is about being weary from incessant spiritual battles. If you’re worn out from warring against spiritual forces of evil, this week’s episode offers a promise for you.
You and I can overcome defeat by believing God’s promises in spite of our circumstances, and by speaking life and truth. No matter how battle weary you may be, you have already won the victory through Jesus Christ.
Your future looks bright because you are a servant of the Lord and you have the God-given right to refute every tongue that accuses you. Your future looks bright because God has redeemed you, and your past has no authority over your future. Your future looks bright because no weapon forged against you will prevail. Whether that weapon was used years ago or lies ahead, waiting to strike you, that weapon will not prevail.
